August 5, 2010 - Winterville Elementary School "Block Party", Winterville, GA

A former student of mine, Debbie, asked me to bring the horses to the local elementary school as a fun thing for the students to experience as they came to meet their teachers for the new school year. How surprised the kids were to see horses at school!

Jammer and Luna were very well behaved and allowed the students to pet them, talk to them, and brush them.

October 25, 2008 - Winterville Retirement Center Fall Festival, Winterville, GA

We had visited earlier in the year (see story here) and I guess the horses were enjoyed enough that the director wanted us to come back and share them with the residents and comminity during their fall festival.

There were several activities going on including face painting, pumpkin painting and apple bobbing. It was pretty windy and there was a cool, fall chill in the air but everyone loved the "little horses". Bloom and Jammer gave cart rides to those that would brave it and Romeo stood in as the "pet me" horse. We had a beautiful area to drive in - a flat, grassy lawn with huge pecan trees.

May 17, 2008 - Horse Fair, Washington, GA

The Classic South Equine Association held its inaugural fair at the Callaway Plantation to promote the interests of horse owners, breeders and suppliers. The fair featured demonstrations and educational seminars on things like natural horsemanship, nutrition, proper tack, lameness issues and more. At noon, they had a parade of breeds where each horse entered the arena and information about each was read to the crowd. At the end, all lined up and walked around the arena.

We were excited to take our minis to show everyone how versatile they were and that they are a legitimate breed. Click here for more on the story.

October 20, 2007 - Winterville Fall Festival

We were a hit last year so they invited us back. We came a little more prepared this year with a holding pen in case we got tired of holding the horses, water buckets, etc. We also set up a table with show photos on it - people always see my minis when they are fuzzy so I wanted them to see what they looked like all spiffed up. We also get "what can you do with them" questions so we brought photos of them driving, jumping and doing other events.

October 2006 - Winterville Fall Festival

The Winterville Police department decided to put on a fall festival for the families of the Winterville area. We took Baroque and Jack for the kids to see.

September 16, 2006 - South Campus Tailgate

Each year, the College of Environmental Sciences, College of Family and Consumer Sciences and College of Veterinay medicine at the University of Georgia choose one game and have "South Campus Tailgate". It's a special time for alumni and friends of the Bulldogs to come and enjoy interactive exhibits from the colleges and enjoy a large lunch of BBQ. There are usually clowns, balloons, face painting and other activities. The Vet school invited us to bring some of the minis. They got into the spirit by having their faces painted (Bloom got a big G on her forehead), posing with the UGA cheerleader and pretending to be football players and cheerleaders themselves.
